Last night saw the unstoppable Gareth Bale pick up both the PFA player of the year and Young player of the year awards. He joined footballing legends Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Ronaldo and Mark Hughes as the only men to have won the main award twice in their career.

It's obvious that the young Welsh wonder has had a fantastic season but this is the first time we've seen him look so smart! Moss Bros' very own Jamie Bosher was surprised by Chelsea FC's Spanish world cup winner Juan Mata last week at the Moss Bros head office.

Adidas had recently launched the new 2013/14 Chelsea home kit without showing it to the general public, they challenged their fans to purchase the kit without actually seeing it. Jamie Bosher entered the competition (without even knowing Juan Mata would be presenting the shirt to him in person). Out of thousands of people Jamie was chosen as the winner.

Juan Mata & Adidas UK came down to Moss Bros HQ with a camera crew and surprised Jamie at his desk with the new shirt, life long Chelsea fan Jamie was stunned to see the Chelsea number 10 holding his new Chelsea home kit.

Juan then challenged Jamie to a kick about outside, Juan got more than he bargained for when Jamie nut megged him then tried an abitious chapeu over the head of the Spaniard.

Stripes

Favoured by bankers and city workers, a stripe suit carries a fair amount of social protocol. However in recent seasons more designers have been experimenting with stripes in tailoring, broadening the scales and thinning the stripes have created many collections which have resulted in stripes filtering down all over the high street.

Traditionally within the industry vertical stripes are used to give a slimming illusion, so this means a striped suit can afford to be a little bit more generous in fit. If you are a guy looking for comfort and don’t want to compensate on style a stripe is definitely for you.

Menswear Style Tip #1 Looking After Your Formal Shirts

You might think that taking your shirts to the dry cleaners is the best way to clean them, well we think otherwise! Dry cleaners use an intense chemical cleaning process; this will weaken the fibres in the fabric and can often give white shirts a yellow hue. When the shirts are machine pressed the buttons can crack and the collar can be flattened.

We recommend machine washing your formal shirts in the washing machine on a warm/cold wash using a non bleach detergent. Let them dry naturally, this will prolong the life span of your favourite shirts!

Everyone hates ironing so unless you’re buying a non iron shirt then try and iron your shirts when they are slightly damp, you will find that the creases straighten out a lot easier and the shirt will look crisp. Don’t fold them for obvious reasons; always hang them up with enough space between each shirt.

The easiest and most efficient way to iron your shirt is to start with the yolk of the shirt (this is the top part of the shirt at the back!), now open the collar and iron up to the seam, iron the sleeves and cuffs, then the front right hand side of the shirt (don’t forget to iron in-between the buttons), now iron the back of the shirt and finally the front left hand side.

Get The Proms Look - 'Bright Knight'

Super heroes have always been idols to young men around the world for years! We all wanted to dress up as our favourite hero (or villain) at some point in our lives. Unfortunately its unacceptable to go to your prom dressed as Batman so we suggest going as Bruce Wayne in a suit! We've given this look the name of 'Bright Knight'.

Choose a shawl collar suit, the shawl collar is favoured by most guys as its considered by many to be flattering, it will give the appearance of a lean silhouette. Make sure the suit is navy, black will work but navy is much more youthful and on trend!

Go for a simple bright coloured shirt with a small collar, purple, lilac and coral are on trend at the moment and fashionistas have spotted these colours on the cat walks in Italy.

Pair your shirt with a bright bow tie, self tied will impress but pre tied will be easier to wear on the day. Try and keep the colour of your tie or bow tie very similar in tone with your shirt. We've selected purple on lilac.

Don’t overkill the look with bright coloured shoes this isn't the 70's and your there to impress! Keep the shoe choice simple, a basic black derby will suit just fine. If you want to really impress then choose a monk strap shoe.

Five Shirts For Five Days

Choosing a shirt for five days at work doesn't have to be a strenuous task. Don't be plain and boring make sure you wear different styles and colours each day.

Non iron shirts are known as the saviour of shirts, minimal if any ironing is needed, I'm sure you have all been there trying to iron a cotton shirt with the upmost frustration when creases still appear. Pastel colours are a key trend this summer, ideally worn with an open open, no tie is needed. Let the shirt be the statement not the tie this summer.

Gingham or check shirts have a stigma for being 'old man's' shirts, well that stigma is dated, gingham or check shirts come in a range of fits to suit every man; regular, tailored & slim. If you want to go for something different then wear a contrast collar check shirt.

Button down collars are on trend for this summer, wearing one under your suit can can give a smart casual look, the one rule we enforce is that if you plan to wear a tie then make sure you go for a skinny tie, wider blade ties will not sit right under the collar and will look too bulky. If you preffer a slim fitting button collar shirt then select a Ventuno 21 shirt, if you want a more relaxed regular fit then we suggest a Blazer shirt.

A white formal shirt is an essential item for any mans wardrobe. There is nothing more clean cut and smart under a suit than crisp white shirt. Through the ages Pocket Squares have gone through many a change and purpose, from flaunting your social class to wiping your nose. They started life in China during the Chou dynasty although nothing was known of the pocket square until Richard II stopped people blowing their noses on their sleeve. In this day and age the pocket square has less practical and is now a significant style item seen on the runway and high street

Just slipping a pocket square into your top pocket can complete your look in a suave and sophisticated way. Choosing the right material is important but not crucial, it all depends on what look you want to go for. Cotton squares will have the more contemporary designs on and are the most popular; silks look splendid when puff-folded in a breast pocket. Linen squares have a grainy texture and look great in the spring and summer season.

When it comes to selecting your square for your business suit consider the matter of sensitivity, some people hold that it must be white, though blue and pastel colours are considered fine. Your square should not match your tie but contrast with it; it should complement the colour of the shirt. If you're brave enough, attempt a pattern clash.

With our rich history within occasional menswear, the Moss Bros SS13 range has given a nod to our heritage, whilst providing quiet flamboyance and a sophisticated flare.

In its second season, the Moss 1851 range is the very best of what we do. The ‘Moss Bros’ name is our biggest asset, and with that the ethos of this brand is that we invest a lot into the product. All suits are made with a superior, time honoured horse hair half canvas construction, natural horn or mother of pearl working cuffs, in cloth selections ranging from super 1OOs up to wool and cashmere/mohair mixes in a contemporary cut. Shirts are all twofold cotton with complimenting ties made from five ply silk, in bold, well defined colours and designs. These products are an absolute jewel, it is the best of what we do and because we are proud of it, the collection carries the Moss name with pride.
