Functional cuffs: a working detail
Premium tailoring, increased craftsmanship.
The majority of suits come with cuffs that are stitched firmly in place. In other words, there’s a high chance the buttons on your favourite suit’s cuffs don’t actually unbutton.
This season, all our Italian-cloth suits boast functional cuffs. Originally designed for surgeons who needed to roll up their sleeves during procedures, functional cuffs – also known as surgeon’s cuffs, working cuffs or functional buttons – are now a sign of premium tailoring and an increased level of craftsmanship.

A subtle detail
So how do you show it off? If you’re going for a subtle tell, leave the button closest to the hand undone. Warning: this may cause other men who appreciate functional cuffs to direct knowing glances in your direction.

Turn it up
If silent gestures of approval aren’t enough for you, turn the cuff all the way back. This will add some unexpected angles to your outline and will probably have people asking why the sleeves on their suit don’t roll up.
On our Italian suits, rolling back the cuffs will also expose a subtle pinstripe sleeve lining, a pattern that nods to Savile Row tailoring tradition.
