Description

Style that looks and feels great on every level, Moss 1851's tan eco chinos are crafted using cotton that's fully certified by the Global Organic Textiles Standard.

A little stretch gives soft flexibility to the fabric and the tailored fit balances strong lines with extra room where you need it.

Wear them with a T-shirt and slides in warm weather and dress them up for occasions with loafers and a white shirt.

These trousers look well tailored and the design has clearly been thought through with attention to detail. In addition to the French bearer also found on their heavier weight chinos (of which I have a grey pair) there is also a loop to align the prong of a belt buckle - a feature usually only found on more expensive garments. I am surprised that the web content does not highlight these elements because I think they differentiate the Moss product from similarly-priced offerings. As yet I have not worn these trousers, but in trying them on the fit is consistent with the grey chinos I already own. Nevertheless, there are a few considerations which prevent a 5* rating. Firstly, there are no buttons to secure the rear pockets (unlike on the grey chinos I already own). This is mitigated to an extent by the depth of the pockets themselves and the fact that this was clear on the website photos if you look carefully. Perhaps a more significant consideration are some errors & omissions from the website content: 1) The label on garment states the fabric mix is 97% Cotton, 3% Spandex (Elastane) rather than the 98%/2% split shown on the website 2) An omission from the web content in my opinion is the disclaimer ticket attached to the trousers stating that the organic fabric tends to have limited colour fastness and should therefore be washed either separately or at least only with dark coloured garments. The disclaimer also states that shading may occur after washing. Whilst neither of these is in itself a showstopper for me, it may be for others. Accuracy in web content when product is not readily available for customers to inspect in store is critical to the overall customer experience. To be fair, Moss is not the first clothing retailer with whose web content I have taken issue but that is no excuse for inaccuracy and omission. If the web content was treated with the same level of attention and quality as the products themselves this would probably have been a 5* review.
