Please introduce yourself

Hi, I'm John. I’m from a small town called Eltham in Greenwich, London. I moved down here when I was 13-years-old with my brother and parents as we wanted an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

How long have you been at Moss?

I’ve been working at Moss since June 2022.

Why do you love working at Moss?

There are plenty of reasons I love working at Moss, but some of the answers may surprise you. I’m a very customer-driven person, and customer experience has always been at the forefront of what I do. I just believe without customers there is no business. No matter how large or small their purchase is, it's the way the customer smiles at you when they've put on the suit for the first time and you can see they’re immediately happy. Or, you know you’ve helped them pick the best suit for one of the most important days in their entire life.

What makes the Eastbourne store special?

It’s a combination of things. It's in the new part of the centre, and there are no businesses like ours with the same quality or products we have to offer. Not to mention, our store is absolutely stunning and modern.

What’s your favourite part of the store?

I think my favourite part of the store is the Custom Made and Hire section. It’s split from the main shop floor with a fantastic different flooring which makes you feel like your stepping into something more premium. I also find this part the most fun, talking to customers, scheming, drawing up plans for their suit design they may want.

Have you had any special interactions with customers lately?

A gentleman came in, in a huge panic. He ordered a suit online and it hadn't arrived yet as he’d just bought it the night before. I could tell he was in a fair amount of distress, and he explained that he needed a suit within three hours. I looked at the suit he ordered and found something very similar, and he said he was getting married in four hours. So we needed to get it done immediately. I managed to kit him out in every single size he required and got him looking absolutely amazing for his big day, and he could not have been anymore grateful.

What’s your favourite piece in the collection right now?

I think my personal favourite in the collection at this moment has to be the sage herringbone. I got this custom made because it truly is stunning, that fantastic beautiful country style tweed, classic yet so timeless.

Is there another place near the Eastbourne store you frequent?

Near the store, we have Nando's, which is great. But a little further walking distance just outside the centre there is a shop called Fresh and Grilled Piri Piri. I absolutely love this place, in fact so much so, I literally come over on my days off and bring friends there. If jewellery are more your thing, we have a Brufords here within a two-minute walk from our store. They sell watches like Rolexes, and they have limited-edition ones that some footballers travel here to purchase. Eastbourne also has a beautiful beach and a lovely community. I would say, with more premium stores like ours popping up, there's huge opportunity for growth.
